From a very early age, Ms. Broughton always found herself creating art. Her first formal training began in High School and led her to win a scholarship art class at the renowned Brooklyn Museum’s Art School. She received her degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology and studied at the Art Student’s League and the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Her early career focused on commercial art and she was the Associate Art Director of Parents Magazine from 1985 to 1987.
Exhibitions of Ms. Broughton’s artwork include various shows throughout New York City and Long Island and she holds the award of excellence from her exhibit in the Cork Gallery at Lincoln Center. Her artwork and decorative painting was the focus of a solo show at Saks Fifth Avenue in 2003 and her decorative works on canvas, walls, and furniture have appeared in House, The Decorative Painter, The Decorative Artist and The Faux Finisher magazines.
Ms. Broughton has extensive experience in high-end residential decorative surface design. Her elegant and unique finishes have interpreted her client’s special design and color specifications time and again. An expert in the field of Trompe l’ oeil, she uses paint to create stone and wood so life like that one can’t tell if it’s real or faux. Each project completed by Ms. Broughton is transformation of ordinary surroundings into an inviting, unique, and exquisite atmosphere.
